A friend of mine introduced me to the concept of curry. In his household, he is the master of curry, making it at least twice a week. So when I was doing a barbecue luncheon for him, I thought I should try to incorporate his favorite flavors into something for the grill. These Spicy Curry Burgers ended up being great, beefy burgers with some spicy heat and a real hit of that curry flavor.

Spicy Curry Burgers

Serves: 8       Total Time: 60 Minutes**

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 tbsp. Better Butter Burger Seasoning
  • 1 tbsp. country herbs and spices
  • 3 tbsp. red curry paste
  • 3 tbsp. sambal olek
  • 1 whole, medium onion, grated
  • 3 cloves of grated garlic
  • 8 buns
  • toppings like lettuce, onion, cheese and condiments

Directions

Step 1
In a large bowl, combine the chilled ground beef (keep it as cold as you can stand to touch) and all the ingredients except for buns and toppings.
Step 2
Form into at least 8 large patties, though you can get more if you prefer smaller burgers, and lay each patty onto a baking sheet with waxed paper. **Chill the burgers for at least 30 minutes before grilling.
Step 3
Preheat your grill to high, 450°F to 500°F and oil the grids.
Step 4
Grill the burgers over direct heat for 7 to 10 minutes per side. If you want, place a slice of creamy cheese, like swiss or havarti over top during the last 3 minutes of grilling.
Step 5
Serve on a bun with your favorite toppings.

Everyone really enjoyed these burgers. And the best part is, if you set them on the waxed paper, you can easily freeze them too. Try these Spicy Curry Burgers today for a really nifty and different burger.

*I know that 15 minutes prep and grill time do not add up to an hour, but there is chilling time that is a factor as well. That is an additional 30 minutes.

Happy Grilling!
