Watermelon and Feta Skewers

Watermelon and Feta Skewers

With Basil and Balsamic Reduction

Posted on August 01, 2017
Watermelon and Feta Skewers an easy appetizer that takes summer grilling in a gourmet direction. Kicking back in the summer heat with your besties and some locally sourced cider never tasted so good. I made these skewers to serve with the intention of whetting our friends’ appetites before the main course, and boy did it work! I was surprised at the complex flavors and textures. The watermelon lost its grainy texture and the feta took on an even creamier one and picked up an enticing smokiness. Punch it all up by drizzling balsamic reduction over the top and adding fresh basil.

Grill Roasted Salmon

Grill Roasted Salmon

With Fresh Herbs & Feta

Posted on January 06, 2016
My husband ate a lot of fish growing up. I did not. At all. So, it's been slow going getting into the seafood thing, but we are getting there. As you can see, Salmon is my favorite and this Grill Roasted Salmon With Fresh Herbs & Feta was absolutely amazing. Fragrant fresh herbs and creamy zippy feta top a meaty salmon fillet. When served with some Crispy Roast Potatoes (just add some fresh dill and a squeeze of lemon) it's perfect.

Bruschetta Pizza

Bruschetta Pizza

Two of the best foods become one

Posted on November 10, 2015
Bruschetta Pizza is a marriage of two supremely delicious foods. Bruschetta topped with roasted tomatoes, onions, garlic and basil, paired with the portable, gooey, melty heaven that is pizza; forming what was probably the best thing we’ve eaten in a week!I say this because we eat some pretty awesome stuff as Chez Sizzle. I mean, have you READ this blog?

Now this recipe wasn't all sunshine and roses. I am sure that you noticed that the pizza went from round and lovely in the first couple of photos,  to a squared-off-ish shape, in the other photos. Well, I kind of, maybe, accidentally, dumped the first pizza in the sink. I would love to tell you it was some incredible story involving ninja pirates, but no. It was my own klutziness that lead to that poor pizza's downfall. Our back up was very tasty indeed, though. The moral here is make this pizza, but don't accidentally toss it in the sink.

Rotisserie Prime Rib

Rotisserie Prime Rib

With Basil Garlic Baste

Posted on April 22, 2015
April 26th is National Prime Rib Day. What an excellent excuse to indulge and make yourself some Rotisserie Prime Rib With Basil Garlic Baste. Prime Rib is not the least expensive in the world, so having a holiday where you can indulge without feeling bad about it is flipping fantastic. I paired this aromatic crusted, melt in your mouth, beefiness with my favorite potato dish, Potato Galette, and served it with amazing gravy made from the pan drippings.

Lemon Rosemary Chicken

Lemon Rosemary Chicken

With Honey Basil Carrots

I made Easter Dinner last week so that you were good and prepared. But it also happened to be Passover on April the 3rd of 2015. As a food blogger, I feel that it's my duty to make food that represents all people and cultures, and pay respect to the food they eat and why it's eaten. I made this Lemon Rosemary Chicken With Honey Basil Roast Carrots for Passover, and hopefully I did this right.

Now I was supposed to make a roasted chicken for this meal, however when I opened the packaging, I discovered that my beautiful, properly prepared, kosher, organic, chicken had gone rancid! Such as the case, we had to improvise. Lucky for us, there were some chicken breasts in the freezer. I can't guarantee that they were prepared in the proper fashion, but we made do with what we had. The rest of the meal I was careful. I did not mix dairy with meat at all, nor did I incorporate flour or leavening agents into the meal. So all in all, aside from the chicken and my camera battery dying, I believe this was a success.

Smoked Beef Brisket

Smoked Beef Brisket

Tender, smokey, delicious.

Posted on January 13, 2015
I've been meaning to... itching to - smoke a beef brisket ever since I discovered the smoker. But time, availability of meat, and life itself seemed to get in the way. Yes I know. I can get aligator and bison, but I can't find a blinkin' brisket?!  Well I got my hands on one, and after 10 hours of smoking, it was still a little rare, but oh so delicious.
